Once you've obtained a consistent, straight brushed finish, the job is almost done, in fact, to many it's completely done! I’m sure just a scotch brite pad (or steel wool) would do the same. Satin or brushed stainless is the easiest to repair out of all the watch finishes imo. Start out slow following the grain or direction of the steel. Slowly apply more pressure to remove scratches etc. Very easy to do.
