One question I would ask though, is why there is a caption that says "Don’t swim with this Speedmaster Calibre 321, though" under a photo of the current 321 Speedmaster. That watch, when new or correctly serviced at least is water resistance certified to 50m so is no less resistant than the std Moonwatches. Does anyone have any insight into the effects of chlorine on a watch? I'm specifically talking about regularly swimming in a chlorinated pool. I know chlorine is bad for gold but what about other materials or the bezel?
We looked at some watches and the girl caught the cloudiness of my watch and immediately asked about the moisture and literally told me exactly what I was experiencing. I was shocked how much she knew from a 1/2 second glance of my wrist. True, it is water “resistant”, but it’s not waterproof. There’s no actual benefit to leaving it on around water with potential submersion, only risk. The gaskets meant to keep moisture out don’t go unaffected by chlorinated pool water, hot water, and especially salt water.
